The ‘Rear Window’ Timelapse Makes Peeping Not So Creepy

This dude Jeff Desom created this ‘visual installation’ based on footage from Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rear Window”.

He dissected all of Hitchcock’s ‘Rear Window’ and stitched it back together in After Effects. He stabilized all the shots with camera movement in them and was able to match the shots into a single panoramic view of the entire backyard since most of them were from the same angle. The order of events stays true to the movie’s plot. The 20 minute creation needed three projectors to displayed on on a 10×2 meter surface.

The film’s a little… a lot before our time but that doesn’t mean its message is any less powerful today- people watching is still the greatest hobby of all-time. If only the judge saw it that way.
