The legendary Randy Travis had a setback during his recovery from heart troubles and a stroke that kept him hospitalized last month. According to Sammy Kershaw, Travis developed pneumonia in mid-August.

Travis’ representatives did not return an email requesting confirmation or more information. The last health update at his official website was to inform fans he’d been relocated to a physical therapy facility after spending three weeks at Baylor Heart in Plano, Texas.

“Olde friend Randy Travis needs our prayers,” Kershaw wrote on Facebook on Aug. 18. “Had a little setback this weekend. He has developed pneumonia. Let’s rock on for him.”

Almost 1,000 of Kershaw’s fans offered words of support and prayers for Travis. His condition following the stroke has not been revealed, but doctors previously indicated it would be a long road back for the ‘Three Wooden Crosses’ singer. All dates have been removed from his official touring schedule.

Still, Travis is planning to release new music very soon. Just this week his team announced that a new album called ‘Influence Vol. 1: The Man I Am’ would be available on Oct. 1 and include covers by legends like George Jones, Merle Haggard and more. The title of the album (Vol. 1) indicate the singer has already recorded enough for a second album or that he’s expected to fully recover to the point that he can record again in the future.
