We''ll be reading all about some Montana pioneering aviatrixes this evening (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby during Montana History. The 1st thing I'm going to do today will be to find out how in the blazes to pronounce the word "aviatrixes!" I would assume it's like an aviator but a "lady aviator at that! Kate Hampton's segment on these pioneering air adventurers is in the book we're currently reading up at the Heritage, "Beyond Schoolmarms and Madams: Montana Women's Stories," published by the Montana Historical Society down in Helena. Man, this book does have it ALL!! Schoolmarms, madams, & lady aero plane pilots. I'm all fired up for more Montana History tonight at 6 at the Heritage. Now I'm thinking...what IF before the book is over, we'll meet some Montana woman who, for whatever reason, was in all 3 occupations! One had to make a buck anyway they could back in the olden days in rural Montana.
