Area residents that are interested in developing a gravel pit on their property are invited to attend a workshop related to the Opencut permitting process on Tuesday, June 19th in Conrad.  This 5 hour hands on workshop will start with registration at 9:30 am at Joe’s Steakhouse located at 402 S Main.  The workshop will be led by J.J. Conner, Unit coordinator, IEMB Opencut, Department of Environmental Quality.  A no-host lunch will be provided at noon.

Each attendee will be given a packet with a blank copy of the permitting application form that must be submitted and approved prior to developing a gravel pit. The packet will also contain a sample form that has been successfully completed that may serve as a guide on how to complete the application form.  J.J. Conner will guide workshop participants through the application.  This interactive workshop will allow attendees to ask questions throughout the presentation.

Interested workshop participants must pre-register for this workshop by calling the Pondera County Commissioners at 271-4010 or emailing pococo@3rivers.net by Tuesday June 12.  At pre-registration please submit any questions that you have in regards to the Openpit program or permitting process.  Those questions will be sent on to J.J. Conner so they can be adequately addressed during the workshop.  Workshop participants are urged to bring their laptops as the department requires the applications to be submitted in electronic form.
