Have you heard of Bob Weiland, who lost both legs in 1969 in Vietnam to a land mine while trying to save a fellow soldier? In 1986, Bob "WALKED" 2,000 miles from California to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., propelling himself on his padded knuckles. Or how about Pvt. William Parker, a soldier in the U.S. Army fighting in Vietnam, surviving after a shot to his head was deflected by the bible he wore underneath his helmet. For more than 90 years, Ripley's Believe It or Not has recognized the amazing stories and sacrifices made by members of our U.S. military. Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, one of my favorite guests is joining me this afternoon (Wednesday) at 4:35. He's Edward Meyer, the VP of Exhibits and Archives from Ripley's Believe It or Not and Ed's always a fun guest. As Memorial Day approaches, Ed will share some of the unbelievable military facts and stories from the Ripley archives. As the Ripley historian and raconteur (use a dictionary), Ed Meyer's the guy with the world's best job and I'm the guy with the world's second best job because I get to interview him and hear some of these fascinating stories this afternoon.
