Longest Wedding Dress with a Nearly 2-Mile Train Breaks World Record

Longest Wedding Dress

Any bride-to-be looking for high drama at her wedding may want to consider this record-breaking wedding dress featuring a train that’s a staggering 1.85 miles long. But there’s just one foreseeable problem — you’d need a gazillion attendants to heft it down the aisle.

On Monday, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized the silk and lace gown by Romanian designer Andre Salon’s fashion house as having the world’s longest train, officially beating the previous record held by a Dutch designer.

The gown was unveiled in Bucharest on Tuesday and was worn by 17-year-old model Ema Dumitrescu, who floated from a hot air balloon in the Romanian capital while the train — which took 10 seamstresses 100 days to stitch, by the way — billowed beneath her.

Of course, the dress wasn’t cheap to make. It was reportedly constructed using 15,420 feet of taffeta, 18.04 feet of Chantilly lace, 147.64 feet of lining, 1,857 sewing needles and 150 spools of thread. Materials for the dress and the miles-long train cost about $8,000 alone. But, hey, you can’t put a price on wedding bliss, right?
