(UNDATED) – KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week came up big in the football playoffs and a district volleyball tournament.

Our male athlete of the week just seems to get better and better and comes up with a lot of big plays on both offense and defense, receiver and outside linebacker Barrett Hansen caught two key receptions for touchdowns in Shelby's Playoff win over Bigfork Saturday, in all he caught seven passes for 89 yards and some of those were not simple catches. At the outside linebacker, Hansen is a sure tackler in one-on-one situations and, in the Bigfork game, he had 12 stops and an interceptions. It seems there's always something special about Hansen that many notice. Head coach, Mike White says he's one of the "hardest working, tough-nosed kids I've coached." It's not only in the game, but every single play in practice, full-go, full intensity. Many fans notice too that he is one of the first to know a ball carrier down and then help him back up and knock him down again.

Also nominated this week, as Valier continues to roll in the playoffs...Wacy Running Crane who had 19 carries for 134 yards, three touchdowns, including the game winner in Valier's 61-59 win over Jordan. Koltin Christiaens was also nominated with 266 yards and four touchdowns.

Our female athlete of the week was a real key to Simms final two matches that led to the 6C West District Volleyball Championship. Lissy Willekes, a 5'10" junior knocked down 37 kills over the weekend, 17 in the semi-final match and 14 more in the championship win over Power. Simms head coach Molly Pasma says Lissy is a great all-around athlete who is coming into her game at just the right time.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; Lissy Willekes of the Simms Tigers and senior Barrett Hansen of Shelby. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
