How Are Things In The South 40

Again this year I am attempting to keep in contact with some of the custom cutter guys who come up here to our Golden Triangle. Tall Todd has been in contact with Ken Adderholt down in Vernon, Texas. Ag man Adderholt reports they recently had 1 inch of much needed rain & says the moisture can make a difference in the appearance of a struggling crop. Larry Goyer over in Oklahoma reports 6 inches of wet, wet snow, which was also welcomed. Meanwhile in Kansas, it is a crop of a different color: the Kansas producers have had nothing but wind & they are chiseling the ground to keep it from blowing. One producer told our Todd that by the time he arrived for harvest, they should have all of the winter wheat plowed! The irrigated wheat looks good, but is being hammered by old Mr. Wind. In Colorado (the Denver area), the winter wheat there is dormant, but is so far in fair shape, but some moisture would certainly be welcomed. I’ll do my level best to keep all of you posted & informed from my blog desk in the coming weeks & months ahead as we head into another season. Let’s all hope for some great crops & prices this year. Hats off to our north central Montana agriculture producers. These folks deserve it!
