Glacier Anglers announces it's "Fun on a Fly"- a fly fishing instructing class for KIDS only. Youth Fly Fishing Day Camp" kicks off NEXT Saturday, June 9th and will continue on Saturday, June 30th. Both Saturdays, from 10AM to 3:30PM, kids ages 12 to 16 are encouraged to come to the Glacier Outdoor Center over in West Glacier for an educational and fun day of fly fishing and casting with the Glacier Anglers pro staff. The kids will learn the basics of casting, knots, fly selection and entomology while practicing catch and release methods in Glacier Anglers' stocked ponds. Both Saturdays will end with a friendly casting competition and awards ceremony with great prizes. No doubt about it, this is a prime opportunity for families to come out and spend the day in West Glacier while learning new fishing skills and enjoying the outdoors. I'll be talking with Ryan Thompson from Glacier Anglers this afternoon (Thursday) at 4:35 on the Puffman Show and of course, this weekend's "Old Fishing Hole" premiers at 5:30 this evening on KSEN/K-96. As part of this month-long Festival of the Fly events, Cast Off 2012 and Fly Fish Tour at the Glacier Outdoor Center will be happening Saturday, June 16th. Cast Off 2012 is aimed to provide seminars, casting instruction and films to stoke the angling crowd for the fishing season, during the dredges of June, which is typically blown out due to runoff. As the Executive Producer of our Old Fishing Hole, here's a "Tip of my rod" to the Glacier Anglers! Looking forward to talking fishing with Ryan Thompson this afternoon on the Puffman Show.
