I've come across a GREAT book to give away tomorrow (Saturday) morning on Puffman Sports Trivia at 7:30. This tome is "At Cahaba-From Civil War to Great Depression"  wonderfully written by Daniel John Meador, James Monroe Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Virginia. It's the intertwined story of Cahaba, the 1st capital of Alabama, & 3 generations of the Kirkpatrick family who lived in that historic place, their rise from the throes of defeat in the 1860's to their demise amid the economic disasters of the 1930's. You'll love this read, it's from one of the finest publishers that I have ever had the pleasure of working with...Cable Publishing, in Brule, Wisconsin. Some of the best books I have read, have come out of Cable Publishing in Wisconsin. "At Cahaba, both history & memoir, is the saga of men & women confronting & overcoming recurrent adversities before tragically succumbing to forces beyond their control. The book draws on official archives & records, published & private sources, family recollections, & the author's childhood memories of times spent in Cahaba during the final years of the Kirkpatrick era. Check it out from Cable Publishing, Inc. at: www.cablepublishing.com & then be the 1st caller in tomorrow morning at 7:30 with the correct answer to my sports trivia stumper & WIN the book. I've come up with a cool sports trivia question about the Pittsburgh Steelers...or as we used to say back in Pennsylvania, "The Stillers." See you in the morning on Puffman Sports Trivia. And hats off to Cable Publishing...you've done it again!
