Elton John Trashes ‘The Voice’ for Being ‘About Watching the Judges’
Elton John has fighting words for a few reality TV folks. The famed singer has trashed both the U.S. and U.K. versions of 'The Voice,' claiming that the show is flawed because it centers too much on the judges and not enough on the contestants and winners.
John told the BBC (quote via Digital Spy) that, "'The Voice' is all about watching the judges, it is in America," pointing out that "nobody on 'The Voice' in America has had a hit record. Nobody on 'The Voice' in England has had a hit record -- they're nonentities."
Pope is just getting her legs under her with her first single, while Bradbery only recently signed her record deal -- both girls are in good hands on the Big Machine Label Group roster, which will develop their careers over the next few years.
While Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul, also a Team Shelton member, and Season 1 winner Javier Colon have not been heard from much since their wins, they are certainly putting their time in to forge viable careers, with continued help from Shelton.
Sure, 'The Voice' features lots of banter between the coaches -- that's part of its charm -- but they do take their job as mentors seriously -- before, during and after.
