As soon as the first few bars of Dierks Bentley‘s new hit, ‘Drunk On a Plane’ began at the 2014 CMT Awards, his strange red carpet attire made perfect sense. The ‘I Hold On’ singer gave a rousing performance of his new hit while the crowd went wild.

Although he had been dressed as a pilot just an hour earlier, Bentley traded in the captain’s cap for a classic black tee during his fun performance of the new song from ‘Riser.’ Surrounded by scantily-clad “flight attendants,” Bentley’s vocals were sharp and it was clear he was having a great time.

Bentley certainly had fun at the CMT Awards promoting ‘Drunk On A Plane.’ The red carpet was abuzz before the show when an unnamed, slightly drunk pilot, employed by Riser Airlines, said that people had been telling him that he looked like the country singer, Dierks Bentley. The pilot claimed, however, that he was much “sexier” than the country star.
