HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A Helena medical marijuana provider convicted of eight federal drug and weapons crimes is asking a judge to set aside the jury's verdict and order a new trial.

Chris Williams was convicted last month for his role as co-owner of Montana Cannabis, which distributed medical marijuana across the state. Montana Cannabis was one of a dozen Montana medical marijuana operations raided in a March 2011 federal crackdown of providers.

Williams' attorney argues in court documents filed Thursday the jury wrongfully convicted of Williams on a count of conspiracy and asks U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen to acquit Williamson of that charge.

Attorney Michael Donahoe also argues that Williams should be re-tried on the other counts because they relate to the first charge.

It is not clear when Christensen will rule.
