I read Montana history every Tuesday evening and I feel that the residents up at the Heritage who come to my reading group, are enjoying this story about the famous Mann Gulch 1949 blaze as much as I am

A TIME TO BE SERIOUS AND CONCERNED

just returned from Minnesota last evening and initially thought I would blog a little about my visit to the Mayo Clinic and also mention that I'll be reading Montana History this evening (Tuesday) at the Marias Heritage Center but I think the dominant thing on all our minds at this time is the rain, the water, and the floods we are facing

Waterspouts Form Off Australian Coast [VIDEO]

Mother Nature threw Australian residents a curve ball Monday when four waterspouts, well, sprouted off the New South Wales coast.

Cameras caught the stunning - and admittedly scary-looking - event, which occurred just north of Sydney. (A local news station claimed the spouts reached upwards of 600 meters, or nearly 2,000 feet.)

Check out video footage of the waterspouts after the jump.

Winter? Again? REALLY?

Well, it looks like Winter is back for the second day of spring.  I'm having a little trouble with that.  We've got cabin fever BAD at my house.  How about you?  What are you doing to try to beat the inevitable blahs from the continued winter?  The web has some ideas, but I'm in such a bad mood, none of them sound good to me (with the possible exception of just getting out of here!)  There are sites that recommend you CLEAN YOUR CLOSET,

Beware Phony Tsunami Aid Scams!

This from the Associated Press:

"UNDATED (AP) - Scammers already are trying to take advantage of the outpouring of compassion  following Japan's earthquake and tsunami disaster. Let it be a warning for the charity-minded to be on the lookout for phony aid appeals. FBI spokeswoman Jenny Shearer says one fraudulent scheme involves an e-mail claiming to be from the British Red Cross and seeks donations via wire transfers. Legitimate charities don't make requests for wire transfers. There are a number of online resources to check out charities. Online: Better Business Bureau, http://www.bbb.org; the Foundation Center,  http://www.foundationcenter.org, a New York-based authority on philanthropy; or Charity Navigator
