Capping Wolf Population

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A state wildlife official says capping the Montana wolf population at 250 could jeopardize the state’s oversight of the predators. Ken McDonald of Fish, Wildlife and Parks made his comments yesterday to a legislative panel meeting on the limit proposed by Rep. Ted Washburn. Washburn then told the panel he would change his proposal to a 350-wolf population target instead of a cap. There were at least 653 wolves in Montana at the end of 2011.
