Tournaments always bring out the best in players and, once again choosing our KSEN/K96 FM Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week was no simple task with numerous performances that qualified for above and beyond the call of duty.

Male athlete of the week honors go to Dutton/Brady senior, Kellan Doheny, who scored and rebounded in bunches. When asked about the overall performance, Diamondbacks coach, Tyson Anderson, was quick to say “he had a HUGE weekend for us” as the Diamondbacks played in the District Championship Game. In this case, the numbers speak for themselves, as Doheny opened the tournament with 32 points, 16 rebounds, went six for ten from three-point range. Coach Anderson says “he was warm”, to put it lightly. In the semi-finals against Sunburst, Doheny scored 15 and continued to be a dominant rebounder with 12. In the championship game, 29 points, ten rebounds, a double-double average for the tournament. Coach Anderson says “all-in-all, he just had a great weekend for us”.

Our female athlete of the week selections deserves some objective debate, but the honor goes to Shelby sophomore Cameron Blevins, since Blevins returned to the Coyotes after an early season injury the team vaulted from zero conference wins to fourth place. A defining moment in the district tournament, the Saturday morning loser-out game where she pulled down 24 rebounds, that’s just two shy of a Shelby record, scored 14 points, went eight of ten from the free-throw line and had four assists. Speaking of assists, how about this one that gave Shelby a lead in the opening round Rocky Boy game…full-court and on-target. That was almost immediately after Lamb had tied the game with a three-point shot. Blevins, at 5’8” is at a disadvantage against taller players in the post, but she fares well there. Shelby Coach, Mac McDermott says she does a lot of things that free-up a lot of other things.

Also nominated this week and very deserving, freshman, Adelle Lamb, who had 16 in the Rocky Boy game, including 11 in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and had 18 more in the Choteau game on Saturday morning to tie for scoring honors.

Also considered this week, sophomore Tayla Eneboe of Conrad who scored 28 in the Cowgirls opening game win over Choteau and Ada Bieler at 28 points and 18 rebounds in that game.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96FM Bozeman Trophy athletes of the week, senior Kellen Doheny of the Dutton Brady Diamondbacks and sophomore Cami Blevins of the Shelby Coyotes. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonalds of Cut Bank and McDonalds honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
