Our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week turned in impressive performances on the track and the softball field this week.

Our male athlete of the week is stepping up his game as we near the District, Divisional and State meets this spring. Senior, three-sport star, Seth Omsberg of Cut Bank had an outstanding day at the Whitefish Invitational on Saturday, he finished second in the 100M dash, first in the high jump, second in the long jump and second in the triple jump. If you're keeping track (and we are) that's 34 of the 37 points that Cut Bank scored to finish sixth in the team standings. But Omsberg wasn't done for the week! At the Top Eight Meet in Great Falls he documented his best high jump of the season at six foot four. That six foot four inch mark is tied with one other jumper for the best Class B mark in the state right now.

Our female athlete of the week is most comfortable on the softball field. It's where she spent her spring and pretty much her entire summer for the past four years. Cut Bank senior, Emma Pyette has the Cut Bank Lady Wolves hoping for a conference championship and ultimately a berth at the State B Softball Tournament in Frenchtown. Over the past weekend at the Great Falls Central Invitational, Emma earned two conference wins, allowing just seven earned runs and striking out 16 on the mound, half the time pitching in sloppy, wet crud, to be quite honest. She went 10 for 14 at the plate, had four stolen bases and knocked in the game winning, go-ahead run against Columbus. On Tuesday night this week, Emma went seven strong innings to give Cut Bank a big victory over Great Falls Central, five to two. For the season, she has an incredible .785 on-base percentage and is now eight and three on the mound. Assistant Coach Cody Pyette adds that Emma is "an amazing leader", whose head he's never seen down. He says her sportsmanship is as good as it comes. For example, if someone hits a home-run off of her, she'll always smile and tell them "good hit". He says he hasn't seen that from many athletes.

Also nominated this week was sophomore, Whitney Durocher of the Conrad/Choteau co-op team. She also went three and zero on the mound. Haley Gouchenour, Conrad/Choteau was also nominated. Haley was 11-14 at the plate, scored nine runs and had two doubles and two triples. Coach Tyson Anderson says she also played an outstanding shortstop. Our final nominee, Shelby sophomore Skyler Martin, with a third place and second place finish respectively in two tournaments last week. Prior to last week, Skyler had a string of tournament wins and is considered one of the best Class B female golfers in the state.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; senior Seth Omsberg and senior, Emma Pyette, both of Cut Bank. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.

And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they've had an exceptional performance email me at mark.daniels@townsquaremedia.com.
