Athletes of the Week
KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy athletes were at the top of their game this past weekend and, in fact, have been all season long.
Our male athlete of the week has two tournament victories under his belt now and will be looking for a third at the Choteau Classic this weekend. Senior, Ben Rauscher waltzed through the Cut Bank Invitational at 170 pounds, pinning every opponent on his way to the title. He wrestled to a fourth-place finish at the prestigious CMR Holiday Classic and has now improved his record to 20 and 5. Ben has been a top wrestler throughout his high school career, making it to the state championship match at 152 as a sophomore and again as a junior at 160 pounds last year. Both of those matches came down to the wire before Rauscher lost to two other talented local wrestlers…Jared Vandenbos of Cut Bank in 2014 and Tanner Stone of Choteau last year. Wrestling at 170 pounds this year, of course, the goal is to take his season just one step further.
Our female athlete of the week took her junior year off from basketball, but Choteau fans and teammates are thrilled to see her back for her senior season. Megan Krone has led the lady Bulldogs in five of their seven games and they’re off to a roaring start with a six and one record. The only loss was last Saturday in a very close game in which Sean Henry hit a buzzer-beater to give Rocky Boy a last second 52-50 win. With good size and athletic ability. Krone is a rebounding force and can play on the perimeter as well. She’s averaging in the high teens and had her season-high in that Rocky Boy game with 19-points.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; Senior Ben Rauscher of Conrad and senior Megan Krone of Choteau. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cu tBank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they’ve had an exceptional performance email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
