KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week are getting things done on the court and the field but maybe more than anything, filling leadership roles that are crucial to team success.

Our male athlete of the week has put up impressive numbers all season long but Cut Bank head football coach Dylan Johnston says senior JR Seewald was most impressive in the leadership role Friday night in a must-win situation at Wolf Point. The Wolves offense had to overcome six turnovers in the game but the coach says his senior quarterback refused to give in. On the night, he carried the ball 34 times for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns; on the defensive side five tackles and two quarterback hurries. With the 27 to 7 win over Wolf Point Cut Bank secured the fourth playoff spot from the Northern Division and will play the number one team out of the each East which will most likely be Roundup but that's not totally decided at this point. Also nominated with a super game off of shoulder injury and cleared to play offense only senior Bryce Gramm of Choteau. Gramm scored three times on two runs and one pass reception helping Choteau to a victory and a secured playoff spot.

Our female athlete of the week plays on a team of talented individuals, but as a senior leader Coach Ann Funk says without the play of Katie Beeler we would be “a very different team”, as our setter, “Katie gets to every ball, never takes a play off and is in a position that we have to have to be successful”. Bieler plays in all six rotations and the Bulldogs are once again the top team in the 1B District, undefeated in conference play. She is a three-sport athlete participating in basketball and golf as well.

Congratulations to our athletes of the week, Senior JR Seeawald of Cut Bank and Senior Katie Bieler of Choteau. Athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
