Alan Jackson remains one of the most beloved artists of the country genre. Want proof? Well, the superstar broke the all-time attendance record at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo on Thursday night (Feb. 23), drawing 17,000 fans. Jackson has played this particular event 15 times throughout his career, but this week’s crowd was the largest he’d ever performed before.

The rodeo’s beginnings date back all the way to 1950 and 62 years later, Jackson nabbed the attendance crown. Congrats, Alan!

“The San Antonio Rodeo has welcomed me for a lot of years and it’s one of my favorite places to play,” the singer said in a statement. “The rodeo and folks in Texas have always been good to me and I want to thank the fans for coming out to see us all these years.”

Pam Rew, Assistant Executive Director of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, echoed Jackson’s sentiments, saying, “What a great partnership, rodeo and country music. Our fans showed how much they support the great country artist Alan Jackson last night with a record attendance in the AT&T Center.”
