It's a beautiful presentation from Farcountry Press down in Helena. This coffee table book just released last month is "A Taste of Montana: Favorite Recipes from Big Sky Country". You're invited to the "table" with Seabring Davis. Davis is a food journalist whose love of cooking was passed down from her mother who showed her the importance of good food shared with family & friends. To compile "A Taste of Montana", Davis traveled across our state gathering recipes from Montana's finest restaurants, resorts, guest ranches, & bed-and-breaks. Davis' cookbook features over 100 recipes of definitive Montana fare coupled with scrumptious photographs by Paulette Phlipot. Some 58 chefs from across the Treasure State contributed recipes for this book. Davis says, "I think this is a great representation of true Montana fare, though there are many, many other establishments that could have been included. This book has most of the interesting places to eat, but I won't claim that it has all of them". She did a great job though...I note that the Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier, the Many Glacier Hotel in the park, & one of my FAVORITES, the Izzak Walton Inn up in Essex have contributed to this mouthwatering presentation. It's all good! The featured cuisine showcases Montana's western heritage, as well as some modern influences, including: Elk Sausage Scramble, Barbecue Bison Short Rib, Ravioli, Butte Irish Pasties, Montana Rainbow Trout with Sauteed Spaetzle Dumplings, Dark Chocolate Stout Cake, & Rustic Flathead Cherry Tart. Check out "A Taste of Montana", available at local bookstores & gift shops, through online retailers, or from Farcountry Press at: 800 821 3874, www.farcountrypress.com If nothing else, proudly display this great hardcover coffee table presentation on your coffee table & visitors will figure that you're a great cook & that you know what you're doing...whether you are or not! Like Greg Patent in the foreword says, "It reveals a bountiful state whose food supply is a wonderful work in progress, & it showcases innovative chefs who find new flavors in local foods. I'm working up a hunger just perusing this book!
