It's been more than an exciting week here in our the Golden Triangle with our 4 County Marias Fair going strong, & 4-H, in my mind, is the biggest part of the fair. Our 4-H reports from the 4 County Marias Fair have been one of the highlights of our broadcast week here at both KSEN & K96 FM. Since its humble beginnings more than 100 years ago, 4-H has grown to become the nation's largest youth development. The 4-H idea is simple: help young people & their families gain the skills they need to be proactive forces in their communities & develop ideas for a more innovative economy. That idea was the catalyst to begin the 4-H movement, & those values continue today as we hear in all our 4-H reports. As one of the 1st youth development organizations in America, 4-H opened the door for young people to learn leadership skills & explore ways to give back. 4-H revolutionized how youth connected to practical, hands-on learning experiences while outside of the classroom. Just ask my wife...she is more than proud of her 16 year old grandson, Michael Compton, over in Havre. Michael was elected this past Thursday at the Havre Fair as the Teen Representative for Hill County. Michael's been actively involved in 4-H for 8 years, & as the 4 H spokesperson for the youth in Hill County, he'll be attending all the council, foundation, & livestock meetings in the coming year. Michael's projects this past year have included beef, swine, photography & automotive. 4 H, building our youth for a better tomorrow!
